Patna Municipal Corporation which has initiated a massive drive to bring down unauthorised outdoor sites in the city has axed over 200 such sites. Abhishek Singh, Commissioner, Patna Municipal Corporation, told Media4Growth that the civic body has brought down over 200 illegal sites and the drive will continue till such time the issue of unauthorised sites is resolved.

Meanwhile, media owners who claim to have the requisite permissions for the sites that they own have been asked to present their ownership papers with the authority. However, there will be no relief to them as well, said Abhishek. “We have asked the media owners to submit the documents whosoever claimed to have permissions to install media. After removing the illegal sites, we will get to the others”.

The corporation has plans to re-structure the advertising guidelines. “However, we haven’t received any comment from the urban development ministry on the existing advertising regulation -if they are good or bad or needs some modifications. If we get any orders from the ministry we will certainly work on them”.

When asked if the industry could have been given some flexibility in the Diwali season, the commissioner said: “If there was any scope for flexibility we would acted differently. But since these orders have been issued from the urban ministry itself our hands are tied,” he said.
