The Madurai city police has reportedly issued notices to ad firms that are failing to maintain traffic light poles in the city that they were permitted to be put up in lieu of ad rights. The traffic lights poles with blinkers stationed at the traffic intersections are meant to caution the commuters crossing the roads. It is reported that many of those lights are dysfunctional but the advertising continues.
The ad firms that hold the rights are expected to maintain the poles, and pay the electricity bills for those poles that are not solar powered.
