Karnataka HC hearing on new bylaws on Mar 29
Bengaluru OOH industry still reeling under the impact of the BBMP ban on large formats
The Karnataka High Court, which had asked the state government give its approval on the new ad bylaws framed by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), has now postponed the hearing on the PIL for the enforcement of the ad bylaws to March 29.
It may be recalled that the state government has held back its approval on the new ad bylaws to seek more clarity on issues like GST levy on outdoor advertising. In the meantime, owners of traditional large formats like hoardings and billboards – which have been banned in the city of Bengaluru that comes under the BBMP jurisdiction – are reeling under the impact of the ban. The industry leaders are hoping that they will be able to get their business back on the rails in the coming months.
