EC sets down OOH display norms for political campaigns
The Election Commission has urged the use of eco–friendly materials and banned featuring any images of serving defence personnel in the OOH displays
With the announcement of Lok Sabha Election dates, the Election Commission of India has mandated that political parties shall not use any media material / fabric that is damaging to the environment for their outdoor campaigns. Also, giving an alternative option, the Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has appealed to the parties to employ eco-friendly fabric for their election campaign displays.
Pertinent to note that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had made a recommendation to the EC on this very issue.
The Election Commission has also mandated that images of serving defence personnel shall not be used for any election campaign displays.
