Delhi Govt to present new guidelines on PSV advertising in Aug
The state government would be presenting new policy guidelines on advertising on public service vehicles (PSVs) to a bench of the Delhi High Court in August. The Court had given the state government time until August 9.
The Delhi Government is working on a new policy on advertising on public service vehicles (PSVs) that includes buses, cabs and autos. The state overnment would be presenting the new policy to a bench of the Delhi High Court in the month of August. The Court had given the state government time until August 9 to present the new advertising policy.
Some auto unions in the capital city had filed a PIL against the Delhi Government’s policy guidelines on display of advertisements on PSVs, issued in August 2014, wherein a pre-censorship was introduced to weed out political ads from such media. The guidelines had placed curbs on ads containing political, ethnic, religious or sectarian content.
The guidelines also provided that advertisements cannot be displayed without prior approval of municipal bodies and would be allowed only on vehicles which have installed GPS/GPRS systems. That was subsequently challenged by the auto unions through a PIL.
