BMTC to do away with glass panel branding on buses
The panels will instead show the names of key places covered on the bus route
The glass panels on the sides of BMTC buses that featured advertisements will now display the names of places covered on the bus route, for the benefit of commuters. This being done on a pilot basis and will cover all buses in the coming months. The 5-year contract for advertising given by BMTC to two advertising firms are reportedly drawing to a close in about 3 months, post which there were no such contracts given out for displaying ads on the side glass panels of the buses.
A Times of India report suggests that the BMTC decision to strip glass panels of ads would reduce the transport body’s annual revenue by about Rs 13 crore.
