Kolkata Municipal launches Tathya Sandhani app for outdoor advertising
The app supports data on legal sites and identification of media
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has officially launched its long in-process mobile application to keep a tab on hoardings in the city. Known as Tathya Sandhani app, the mobile application was launched by Mayor-in-Council (Parks & Gardens) Debashis Kumar. The application will keep a record of the legal hoardings in the city and prevent mushrooming of illegal sites. The civic body is capturing the entire outdoor hoardings data which will further be added to the app database for further media monitoring; the main monitoring system is installed in the chamber of the KMC advertising chief manager.
The corporation has already been undertaking key steps to streamline the norms governing outdoor advertising in the city. Recently, they had launched a drive to ensure the stability of outdoor advertising structures installed on the roadsides.
KMC is seen to be focused on developing digital solutions for regulating the OOH trade. The corporation has also introduced GIS mapping as well as a GPS system to track digital hoardings via the KMC website. Also they are pushing for the use of solar panels for illuminating LED boards and hoardings as part of its green agenda and to cut down use of conventional electricity usage for outdoor media.
