Stripped down to the bare essentials, a significant number of hoardings in different parts of Bengaluru portend the shape of things to come. A general survey of the streets of Bengaluru by Media4Growth revealed the current state of affairs. Today’s hearing at the Karnataka High Court could suggest what lies ahead for large format OOH business in the city. The moot question is – will the BBMP Council ask for more time to present a new ad policy for Karnataka Government approval, or would they push for a ban on hoardings.
The ramifications of any court directive will send ripples across the OOH landscape across the country, and also get the planners and brands to look at alternative avenues to leverage OOH for advertising.
