Storm warning sees Rajkot & Jamnagar OOH media being dismantled as precautionary measure

By Bhawana Anand - June 13, 2019

The respective corporations have issued notice to avoid any possible casualty and the regional media owners are adhering to it

Gujarat, RajkotGujarat, RajkotAs per notification issued by the respective municipal corporations of Rajkot and Jamnagar, large size formats of both the cities are being taken down by media owners on immediate basis. This notification has been advised as a precautionary measure to avoid any possible casualty from cyclonic storm ‘Vayu’ that is predicted to hit Gujarat anytime.

The Rajkot Municipal Corporation has given directions to take down all large size hoardings and gantry formats across the city within 24 hours, while the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation has issued a notice to remove all hoardings and maintain the same status till 14 June. As per industry sources, a majority of OOH sites have been dismantled from both the cities following the notice.

Jaydeep Renuka, Proprietor of Rajkot based Global Publicity shared, “We adhere to the mandate issued by the corporation as we understand that there can be some serious accidents due to storm and being a responsible business owner, we also take the responsibility. Hence, we are taking down our media and providing full support to the authority.”

The notice for removal is of course a temporary measure and the sites will be installed once the storm danger passes. The cost of the entire process of dismantling and re-installing is being handled by the media owners themselves.

Vayu further intensified into a severe cyclonic storm with heavy rains and strong winds and is expected to hit coastal Gujarat between Porbandar and Mahuva around the Veraval and Diu regions.
