FIITJEE station semi-naming rights well within the rules: DMRC
Now that IIT-Delhi has taken the matter to the Delhi High Court, DMRC is examining the issue very closely with the aid of its legal team
In the wake of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi taking serious objection to the name of the Delhi Metro station adjacent to the institute’s campus being branded as FIITJEE – IIT metro station, an official of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation told Media4Growth that in awarding the semi-naming rights to the coaching institute there was no contravention of any rule. Now that IIT-Delhi has taken the matter to the Delhi High Court, DMRC is examining the issue very closely with the aid of its legal team. A court decision on this is expected on in the second week of July.In the middle of this contention, FIITJEE has swiftly mounted a disclaimer signage on their gate, stating in bold letters, “FIITJEE is in no way connected with any IIT in the country”.
IIT Delhi’s contention is that the naming of the metro station next to the campus is giving the impression to many that FIITJEE is the official coaching partner of IIT. No official from FIITJEE was available to comment on this matter.
