Madras High Court orders to remove large political displays on Coimbatore roads
The decision has been taken against mammoth temporary political structures put up on the roads that pose a hazard to moving traffic and pedestrians; no challenges posed to legal OOH media
Madras High Court has issued an order to pull down all the political structures and cut-outs built illegally in the middle or sidewalks of the roads in Coimbatore. The decision has been taken after an incident took place in which a techie lost his life after hitting a roadside hoarding put up by a political party. However, it isn’t going to affect the OOH trade in the city as the decision has been announced only for the political structures.
“There is no threat to the outdoor business and legal sites. But yes initially the officials tend to remove some legal sites as well along with illegal sites merely due to confusion. It is a good decision as these political sites create huge clutter in the city”, said one of the local traders.
