During the holiday season, airports are abuzz with excited travellers eager to reach their holiday destinations or returning to their homes. To decrease the waiting times and ease up queues and airport congestion, Kulula, a low-cost carrier promoted online checking via a unique outdoor activity. To hit the right TG, the activity was executed at the premises of Cape Town International Airport. The outdoor activity was initiated by King James advertising agency.

The airline created a life-size remote controlled bed and bath that moves around some of South Africa’s busiest airports and Gautrain stations, to show how easy it really is to check-in online from anywhere – your home, office or even a deck chair.

“Holiday season should be a fun time but often it’s stressful because there’s so much to do, in such a short time. We can’t manage your in-laws or do your Christmas shopping but we hope that our newly improved online check-in system can save you some time that can rather be spent with your family, said Shaun Pozyn, Marketing Manager for Kulula.

Deidre Davids, Communications Manager for Cape Town International Airport says, “The peak season in Cape Town starts as early as October. For the month of October we saw an increase in passenger numbers by 8 per cent compared to the same period last year. We are optimistic that this trend will continue. The airport typically enjoys a busy holiday period and as always we are working closely with airlines to ensure a hassle-free travel experience for customers. Where possible, we encourage travellers to check-in online to help ease the queues at ticket counters and reduce general airport congestion.
