Smart railway stations likely to open up new OOH avenues
RLDA-NBCC MoU to develop smart railway stations will likely to create new OOH investment opportunities at those transit locations
With the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) and the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) singing an MoU to redevelop 10 railway stations into smart railway stations in the PPP mode, matching global standards, new OOH investment opportunities are likely to get created at those stations. As such, Indian Railways is upgrading and modernising the rail infrastructure in a big way that will also buoy the advertising opportunities.
As per the RLDA-NBCC MoU, 403 stations will be re-developed, of which the first set of 10 stations include Tirupati, Sarai Rohilla (Delhi), Nellore, Puducherry, Madgaon, Lucknow, Gomtinagar in Lucknow, Kota, Thane (New), and Ernakulam.
The re-developed smart stations will not only decongest the main stations in their respective cities, but also provide quality sanitation facilities and enhance the passenger experience. The redevelopment of stations and commercial development on railway land will be done in line with the Smart City Plans of the respective cities.
