Nissan on racing awareness drive

The brand utilizes on-ground medium to attract participants for the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy.

Nissan, along with its partner PlayStation, has launched the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy, a driver discovery and development program that could be the gateway to motorsports for motor racing aspirants in India. With the launch of GT Academy, Nissan, the brand also wanted to leverage the opportunity to connect even more closely with the Indian audience. As GT Academy has arrived first time in India, the brand planned an on-ground event with the an aim to highlight India's inclusion into the newly created international league.
 


GT Academy's Indian qualifying rounds began with'Live Events' in high-footfall shopping malls in five select Indian cities and at a later stage an online qualifying round that is planned to host on the PlayStation Network (PSN). To make the activation interesting, GT Academy unites the worlds of virtual and real-life racing to make the dreams of aspiring race drivers a reality. The activity has been done in Delhi and Mumbai whereas the complete qualifying rounds will be executed in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai by June 2014 before finalizing the quickest 14 lap cities in contention for the first Indian edition of GT Academy.

The program will test the racing acumen of enthusiasts on PlayStation GT6 racing simulators that focus on a high-end simulated driving experience. At Delhi and Mumbai, we have already witnessed a furor of excitement amongst gamers and racers and I'm sure in Hyderabad, it's going to go to the next level. We expect this to be a tough challenge.”
