With a population of approximately 20 lakh people, Madurai is home to various manufacturing units of different product segments such as handloom textiles, automobiles, rubber, granite, etc. and as a result, the city is a fast-growing market and one of India’s promising smart cities. Madurai sees almost 9 lakh tourists every year of which, more than half come from outside India. And the gateway to Madurai – the airport – handles more than 1,000 flights with more than one lakh passengers every month.
