The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), going by the Haryana Municipal Corporation Advertisement Bye-laws, has swooped down at two malls — Ambience Mall and MGF Metropolitan Mall — and the Huda City Centre Metro station to remove or shroud advertising media there. As per the recent policy amendments, done in March, these formats are illegal as they don’t have any legal permissions from the authority,” said S S Rohilla, PRO of MCG in a conversation with Media4Growth. Six unipoles located outside the metro station have been seized and formats placed on mall façade and nearby premises have been taken off.
However, the municipal corporation also maintained that they are not against the advertising at such avenues but that advertising should be done adhering to the new policies. “We are okay with advertising formats but they should register with the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon and submit fees”, said Rohilla. The corporation has an online process through which registration can be done. Also, the area, type and size of the advertisement mentioned in the application cannot be altered once approved by the corporation.
