AMC initiates steps to ensure structural stability of outdoor media
Media owners asked to submit documents certifying structural stability of their respective outdoor media structures
Urban local bodies in Gujarat are reportedly taking steps to have unauthorised outdoor media structures removed. This follows the hoarding collapse in Ghatkopar, Mumbai on May 13 that claimed 16 lives and left a large number of people injured.
The Times of India reports that the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has ordered owners of hoardings put up on public and private lands to submit the structural stability certificate of their respective outdoor media with immediate effect. “This directive affects 2,135 hoardings – 250 tender site hoardings managed by the AMC and and 1,885 private site hoardings,” the report states.
