Digital interactive kiosks coming up in NDMC areas

By Bhawana Anand - October 31, 2018

The kiosks, developed by Enhance Tech Labs, will have an interactive public information display on one side, and advertising display on the other

The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) area will have digital interactive information kiosks by the year-end. The authority had initiated an RFP for Design, Build, Operate & Transfer Public Bike Sharing System last year which also included 50 units of outdoor digital interactive information kiosks with 75” advertisement screen on one side and 46” interactive touch screen on the other side, as part of the installation. One such unit is to be installed at each bike station.

The tender was won by SmartBike Mobility and after carefully exploring and evaluating all the full outdoor kiosk options available in India, they opted for a Make in India strategy to develop full outdoor digital interactive kiosk (IP65 Certified) for this project. The digital interactive information kiosk, now being installed, is designed by Enhance Tech Labs whereas the marketing rights are handled by Sadhana Group.

The selection of this full outdoor digital interactive kiosk for this NDMC project was primarily based on the following reasons:
• That it is a Make in India product.
• They are fully outdoor certified units that are all-weather capable (with IP65 certification).
• They have Anti-Vandal Protection, Auto Cooling system, Auto Brightness Control, Remote Control (RS232), and Easy to Service with Front Door Open, Capacitive Touch applied.

Enhance Tech Labs has worked closely with the Samsung India team to develop this product. The hardware includes high brightness, full HD 75" & 46" displays.

The units -- 50 in all -- shall have internet connectivity with Digital Signage so that the content of each of the screens can be managed and controlled anytime from a central server.

Since the digital hardware industry is yet to move beyond LED, there were two most critical challenges for the backend team; primarily no one was willing to believe that, a full outdoor kiosk could be developed in India with IP65 certification and secondly the company had to develop this in flat one and half months’ time. Enhance Tech Labs identified this a big opportunity for empowering citizens, especially in the wake of Government of India's Digital India, Smart Cities Mission and Make programmes.
