‘Don’t focus on outcomes, but on work,’ urges actor Manoj Joshi @ OAC 2024

Setting a note of inspiration and responsibility to the 18^th edition of Out Of Home Advertising Convention (OAC) 2024, was acclaimed actor and recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri Award, Manoj Joshi. 

The talented and celebrated actor was speaking on the theme ‘Breaking the stereotype to emerge a winner’ in conversation with Dwarika Prasad Uniyal, Pro- Vice Chancellor at R V University, Bengaluru. But before he began his interactive session, he had one important thing to do. He read out the specially drafted Green pledge for OOH, which the assembled audience repeated after him, line by line.  The pledge was essentially an affirmation of the intent to follow environmentally friendly business practices in the OOH eco-system. The significance of it was not lost on the audience comprising senior stake holders of the OOH ecosystem.

Manoj then took the audience through his life journey in the conversation with Dr. Dwarika Uniyal, which was peppered with interesting anecdotes and insights. Manoj spoke about his career in theatre and acting, his initial struggles while juggling between the need to make a living and focusing on the craft of acting.

The anecdote filled, engaging session indeed had many things to offer, right from how he followed his true calling, to the relevance of life lessons contained in the Bhagavad Gita, the chief of them being the importance of focusing on what one needs to do, rather than on the outcomes. The conversation also had both the participants reflecting on the craft of acting and the attributes that make a successful actor.

The conversational session ended on a poetic note with Dwarika reciting a short poem he composed on success, which encapsulated the words of Manoj. For the audience assembled at OAC it was indeed a session that offered a larger context drawn from life, which they could very well apply to their own professional journey.
