Indore Municipal Corporation notifies the removal of hoardings in the city

By Satarupa Chakraborty - March 04, 2016

Municipal Corporation of Indore has recently notified hoardings owner of the city to remove their sites that has been erected against their bylaws, in answer to which, Indore Hoardings Owners Traders Association has resorted to the High Court for justice.

Indore Municipal Corporation has recently notified hoardings owners of the city to pull out their sites which were installed against their bylaws of 1976, in violation of which, there will be initiation of eradication drive. This was notified on February 24, 2016. According to the authority, all these hoardings are either creating traffic hazards or posing threats to human lives or kinds.

Calling this notification "arbitrary and illogical”, Rajesh Jain, Managing Director, Ad World, commented, "We can't see much logic behind this sudden notification and a meagre notice period of 7 days. There has been no development in the outdoor policy even though we have been demanding it for ages. They also refused to disclose any planning on making any new policy or updating fee structures, although we are ready to bear logical expense hike. We generally deposit our yearly fees in the beginning of every fiscal year. Right before the current one, Municipal Corporation has taken this impromptu and illogical move leading us to resort to the High court. We are pretty much hopeful that good justice will prevail before Corporation takes any drastic step of removal.” Indore Hoardings Traders Association has lodged this case to the High Court and awaiting interim relief.
