Samsung takes its foldable phone rivalry to the streets with mobile digital billboard in Toronto
Leaning on eight generations of Galaxy Z Fold experience, Samsung Canada uses a tongue-in-cheek OOH activation to take a playful swipe at competitors entering the foldable smartphone category.
Samsung Canada has taken its foldable smartphone messaging to the streets of Toronto with a mobile digital billboard campaign that puts the brand’s experience in the category front and centre.
The campaign features a series of visuals displayed on a digital screen mounted on a moving truck. Each creative pairs lifestyle imagery with a simple message: “Folding. We know a thing or eight.” and “Folding is nothing new to us.” Both carry a clear call to action: “Switch to Galaxy Z Fold8.”

The creatives use a recurring visual device: a bright, multicoloured line running across the imagery, referencing the fold in a smartphone display. The execution brings together product messaging and a playful nod to Samsung’s eight generations of foldable devices, as other smartphone brands enter the category.

By taking the campaign onto a mobile digital billboard, Samsung gives the message a moving presence across busy streets and high-footfall areas. The format also allows the brand to showcase multiple creatives rather than rely on a single static message.
The campaign is an example of competitive messaging adapted for the OOH environment. Instead of directly naming rivals, Samsung uses its product legacy and a sharp line of copy to underline its experience in foldables, turning a category conversation into a street-level brand statement.
