Tap emerging opportunities in Tier II & Tier III markets: Lokesh Kumar

By M4G Bureau - October 14, 2014

In his address"œTapping the Emerging Opportunities in Tier II and Tier III Markets in Karnataka”, Lokesh Kumar R, Director, IKON stresses that it's the OOH industry's responsibility to reduce clutter and increase the brand value for their clients.

Opportunities are growing beyond the bigger cities, where Tier II and Tier III markets are emerging and in turn demand for OOH is increasing. Stating this in his address "Tapping the Emerging Opportunities in Tier II and Tier III Markets in Karnataka” at the first Karnataka Talks OOH! conference held in Bangalore on October 9, 2014 Lokesh Kumar R, Director, IKON, said, that the jewellery sector is greatly expanding to these cities and using OOH as a prominent medium to advertise.

"But with opportunities, comes demand and demand entices,” said Lokesh. With increasing demand, opportunities are exploited that eventually results in a metal chaos and clutter, reducing brand value. Unfortunately, this chaos has become a comfort zone for the OOH industry.

Lokesh explained that is the industry's responsibility to understand and appreciate good work and reduce clutter for the same. "Opportunities have to be tapped not exploited. If we don't adapt change, we will be forced to change,” he adds.

During the session, Lokesh stressed that if people can work with mutual understanding, they can avoid the rumble they foresee. Speaking about the business consequences of avoiding clutter Lokesh explained, "If there are 10 hoardings at a junction, they can all organize the junction in a way that it does not look cluttered. Even if three individuals come together to form an alliance and invest together, it will make a lot of difference. Clutter is already quite rampant in the city of Bangalore. While expanding to tier II and III cities, let us make sure we don't repeat the same. "
