Surreal Design Studio’s project called ‘Infinite Mumbai’ curated with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation G South Ward and Acko General Insurance is a tribute to the city’s spirit and has been installed at the R G Thadani road and Pochkhanwala Road junction in G South Ward.

In an interesting example of art intersecting with public space engagement, Surreal Design Studio, the leading outdoor Décor studio, recently created an evocative installation to pay tribute to Mumbai city’s robust spirit. “The design module has been carefully blended with the concept of infinite possibilities that Mumbai offers, to portray the new level of urbanisation that the city is moving towards,” says the studio statement.

The project has been curated by bringing together Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation - G South Ward - and insurance industry leader Acko General Insurance. “The G South ward is one of the most progressive wards within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation with soaring development. This installation is testimony to landmark projects taking place in this zone such as the Coastal Road, Metro and the Sea Link,” adds the statement.

The installation, 14 feet high and 22 feet wide, depicts the essence of Mumbai - its essential connectedness,  connecting people and places, and the theme of this installation conveys the city’s pace of development over the years and its preparedness for the next 30 years. The studio informs that the installation also captures the city’s fine balance between urbanization and sustainability through the use of right tools.

Talking about this project, Rahul Soni, Founder, Surreal Design Studio, said, “The Infinite Mumbai project is thrilling since it gave us the opportunity to envision the Mumbai of tomorrow, one which aims to attain a significant spot on the world map. We hope that the idea of sustainable growth, infinite possibilities and connectedness may resonate with the Mumbaikars.”

Ameya Kankonkar, Co-founder, Surreal Design Studio, said, “Mumbai has always been the city of dreams, with a massive population and an aspirational vibe. The installation symbolises the rapid growth that is propelling this city towards enhanced connectivity through urbanisation plans, while maintaining the sustainable quotient. All the elements have been scrupulously incorporated and represent Mumbai’s future forward vision.”

The installation has been put up at Junction of R G Thadani road and Pochkhanwala road in G South Ward and will be sponsored and maintained by Acko General Insurance for the next few years. It serves as another effective example of brand engagement and presence in the public/out of home space in a socially relevant manner through the use of art.
