Rail officials scrutinising issues raised by media owners in Pre-bid meeting

By Bhawana Anand - August 12, 2017

Media owners had citied the issues related to obtaining permissions from local bodies for putting up media in railway area

The Non-Fare Revenue Directorate of Indian Railways is evaluating the issues raised by media owners who had attended the pre-bid meeting and road show organised by the Railways in New Delhi last week. The media owners had cited concerns over local body permissions, payment duration, etc., with reference to the Delhi OOH area.

While talking exclusively to Media4Growth, Bharat Rajamani, Executive Director, Advisory Services, EY said, “All the feedback and concerns raised by the OOH industry representatives during the pre-bid meeting have been presented to the railway officials during the CCM meeting. The railway officials have taken all queries into consideration quite positively and are discussing internally to find the best solutions to make this project a win-win for both concessionaires. “

Several media owners had cited the issue of taking permissions from the local Delhi authority for site installations outside the railway area, as per the new Outdoor Advertising Policy 2017. The grant of permissions is time-taking that causes significant losses to the media owners. Hence, the media owners wanted the railway authority to intervene in this matter in the tendering process.

On this Bharat said, “As far as the permissions from MCD is concerned, the authority is scrutinising this issue in the interest of the media owners.”

The tender announcement is expected in next 3-4 weeks.
