Prime Minister’s fervent appeal for support to build awareness of the efficacy of vaccination may be an engagement opportunity for Indian OOH.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation today announced important decisions taken by the Central government to fight the current Covid19 crisis which will have a huge positive cascading impact on the economy and business in the near- to medium-term.
The Central government has taken the decision to once again centralise the procurement and supply of vaccines against Covid19, that is status quo ante, as was the case in January this year. By this, the Centre shall provide vaccines to all states free of cost that in turn will provide people above 18 years access to vaccination free of cost. Private hospitals will receive 25% of the vaccine supply and they may add a service fee of Rs 150 over and above the cost of vaccine.
The aggressive vaccination drive that will be steered by the Centre with the support of the state governments is expected to drastically bring down the Covid19 case loads, and infuse new vigour in all economic and business activities. For Indian OOH, these steps will mean a faster approach toward normality and strong business recovery. For, OOH has been one of the worst hit among all media streams in the face of the pandemic.
Prime Minister Modi made a fervent appeal to dispel any misinformation regarding vaccines, and urged everyone to join the effort to spread awareness of the efficacy of vaccination. Perhaps, Indian OOH could play an instrumental role in partnering the government, civic bodies and civil societies in spreading this message, even as civic administrations lift people movement restrictions in cities across the country, and thereby bring back audiences to OOH.
