Nagpur Civic body extends advt contracts duration as lockdown relief

By M4G Bureau - October 30, 2020

The regional media owners haven’t received any communication regarding extension of tender

It is learnt that Nagpur Municipal Corporation has announced an extension in the tender contracts’ duration for a year in order to provide relief to the advertising contract holders in the wake of lockdown induced by COVID19. According to a report in a national daily, the three-year contract has been turned into four years. However, when Media4Growth contacted regional media owners, they refuse to get communicated regarding any such extension clause.

According to the corporation, renewal of the tender has been pending since 2016. But, instead of renewal, the corporation is planning for extension. It is causing them loss of revenue as renewal of tender tends to increase corporation’s revenue.

On the other hand, the Nagpur’s local outdoor advertising association had submitted a request to obtain relief for the lockdown period highlighting license fee waive off for last six months. But, the matter is pending for approval, shared a regional media owner.

The payment of license fee is pending by the media owners. But, the corporation has clearly stated in the report that they are a bit relax in fee collection as a favour and also didn’t levy interest on late payments.
