Mumbai airport world's busiest single-runway airport

By Bhawana Anand - May 16, 2017

Mumbai airport's rise to the top is representative of the sharp spike in India's domestic and overseas civil aviation traffic which augurs well for the bustling airport advertising business.

Mumbai’s Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport has emerged as the world’s busiest single runway airport with annual 45.2 million passenger traffic in Fiscal 2017 of which 12.4 million were international travelers. The airport handled 837 flights a day or one in 65 seconds on an average, thereby overtaking London's Gatwick airport that had 757 flights a day. Gatwick handled 44 million passenger traffic in FY2017.

Mumbai’s airport’s new global standing is perhaps a big boost for the airport advertising business at this airport, as also at all other Metro and non-Metro airports that are seeing similar spurt in passenger traffic.

Times OOH holds the ad rights at the Mumbai airport. Along with 660 display opportunities on billboards, static and digital sites, the airport offers an opportunity for activation and customer interaction & engagement.
