After a long struggle, Mumbai outdoor media owners have been issued relaxation package by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in the wake of lockdown induced by Covid19.

As per the document, media owners have been given a complete license fees waive off until July 2020. No composition fees will be levied until January 2021 and the increment in license fees has been reduced from 10% to 5% for the next year.

Khalid Batliwala, President, Mumbai Hoardings Owners Association (MHOA), said, “It is a fulfilling rebate issued by the Hon’ble MCGM. We certainly consider it a positive measure for the industry and the business in the coming days. This is the first time in history that OOH industry has been granted a relief. We truly appreciate this decision.”

Khalid believes that the association have been pretty supportive to the corporation in communicating essential information regarding precautionary measures against the pandemic. “We have undertaken two campaigns in the fight against this communicable disease and it has been our privilege to be the voice of the authority and frontline warriors during the crisis,” Khalid added.

Talking about the court case filed by the media owners to seek relaxation, Khalid clarified that the case will be withdrawn at the earliest.
