Maharashtra Cabinet approves ban on flex boards, banners

The government ban on the use of flex boards, banners, flags and other plastic materials will be enforced by the local urban bodies and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board

The Maharashtra state Cabinet has approved the environment department’s proposal to ban manufacture and use of different plastic materials and that includes flex boards, banners, flags, etc. A notification on this expected soon, and the ban is likely to come into force by the month-end, as per national daily report.

The ban will be imposed on both manufacturing and use of the banned materials, and any violation will attract a fine and jail term. The decision will be enforced across rural and urban Maharashtra. All municipal corporations, municipal councils, district collectors and chief executive officers of the zilla parishads have been sensitised to ensure its implementation in their respective regions. The government also intends to offers incentives to those who strictly adhere to the ban decision.
