Large format printers in Bengaluru in line of fire as NGT steps up drive against flex

By Bhawana Anand - December 09, 2017

The action came in the wake of the outdoor advertising association of Bengaluru seeking a stay on court directive to ban use of PVC flex; industry needs to also look at ushering in eco-friendly fabrics and green processes

Some large format printers in the city of Bengaluru faced intrusive action by government personnel following on the National Green Tribunal’s directive against the use of PVC flex for outdoor advertising. The action came in the wake of the outdoor advertising association of Bengaluru seeking a stay on court directive to ban use of PVC flex.

Deepak Nagar, Director, Supra Digital, told Media4Growth, “There have been a few incidents earlier too where printers had to face the brunt of official action. Various political campaigns which include huge structures and illegal sites had drawn the attention of NGT but in the process outdoor advertising has come in the line of fire.”

Looking ahead, Nagar believes that the outdoor industry would need to bring in eco-friendly materials and make the whole process more sustainable.
