HC tells BBMP to remove hoarding structures in Bengaluru

Meanwhile, introduction of Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Advertisement Rules 2019 inordinately delayed

Even as the outdoor media operators in Bengaluru market had been waiting for the introduction of the Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Advertisement Rules 2019 that lays down the norms for large format advertising in the city, the High Court of Karnataka’s direction to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike for removal of illegal hoarding structures has put paid to the industry’s hopes. That would entail the removal of all existing hoarding structures in the city.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Outdoor Signage & Public Messaging ByLaws 2018 will come into effect on December 6, 2019 as per which the hoardings will be all be deemed illegal. Whereas, the industry was waiting for the Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Advertisement Rules 2019 to be introduced. But, there is no development seen on that count.
