HC asks Karnataka Govt, BBMP for action taken report on unauthorised flex hoardings

By Bhawana Anand - February 08, 2018

Although criminal cases have been lodged against the offenders, no action has reportedly been taken under the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1981

The Karnataka High Court has directed the Karnataka state government and the BBMP to submit a report on whether any action has been initiated thus far under the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1981 against unauthorised banners and flex boards.

There are estimated 23,000 unauthorised banners and flex boardings across Bengaluru. Although criminal cases have been lodged against the offenders, no action has been taken under the Act, reports The Times of India.
