Gurugram civic body assigns specific locations for political displays

By Bhawana Anand - September 08, 2017

The civic body will also swoop down on all unauthorised hoardings and banners put up in the city

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has taken the pioneering initiative to earmark particular locations where political parties may put up their outdoor displays. This initiative would serve as a direction finder for several civic bodies around the country that are embattled with the issue of clutter caused by outdoor displays put up different political parties.

MCG has earmarked 233 locations where political parties may deploy their campaign displays ahead of the upcoming Gurugram Municipal polls.

S S Rohilla, PRO, MCG told Media4Growth: “During polls, the contesting parties do get the space to display their campaign messages but this time we have identified specific places for them where only they will be allowed to use the space.” They will be temporary sites. The municipal body has also appointed officials to oversee the deployment of election displays.

Further, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (Zone 4) Joint Commissioner Gaurav Antil has said that all unauthorised hoardings and banners put up in the city will be removed immediately. He said the District Town Planner (Enforcement) has been directed to remove all illegal hoardings and banners.
