Cash-strapped Ludhiana civic body urging state govt to permit new tender float

By Bhawana Anand - November 07, 2017

The state government’s decision to put on hold all new advertising tender floats on hold has seriously impacted the civic body’s revenue earnings. Efforts are on to get permission for a tender for 80 unipoles

While the entire Punjab outdoor industry is at a standstill after the halt on new projects imposed by the state government, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation is pushing hard to obtain permission to roll out a tender for 80 unipoles.  The tender for 80 unipoles was initiated before the government took the decision to sketch a new policy for the state which then went on hold. “We have requested the state government to permit us to take it forward and roll out the tender,” confirmed Harvider Dhalla, Superintendent, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation in an exclusive conversation with Media4Growth. Even after making multiple efforts there hasn’t been any response from the apex authority on this matter.

The efforts are being made by the local authority to generate some amount of revenue as the municipality is facing revenue crunch due to absence of outdoor advertising. The revenue generated by 80 unipoles is close to Rs 3 crore, estimated by Harvinder.

Commenting on Navjot Singh Sandhu’s vision to churn out at least Rs 100 crore from the Ludhiana market, Harvinder gave a positive response as he said, it is not impossible. However, to achieve such a big target a huge bunch of media formats will be required such as on private buildings, etc.
