Delhi Metro runs'Swachh Metro' campaign, amplifies cleanliness message

DMRC conducted onground activities like street plays at various Metro stations to sensitise people about"Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”

Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) launched a cleanliness campaign called ‘Swachh Metro’ in and around Metro station premises during October 2-7 to promote Government’s flagship programme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. The objective of the campaign was to reinforce the message of cleanliness amongst public and work towards a clean and better environment at all its installations and nearby surroundings. The campaign has covered covered a host of activities during this period.


Under the campaign, DMRC staff presented street plays -- depicting the importance of cleanliness -- at 15 major metro stations: Mandi House, Rajiv Chowk, Karol Bagh, Noida City Centre, Akshardham, Central Secretariat, New Delhi, AIIMS, Sikanderpur, Nehru Place, Inderlok, Kashmere Gate, Dilshad Garden, Shahdara and Chandni Chowk. A series of street plays (Nukkad Nataks) were organised at 12 major Metro stations spanning across the entire Delhi-NCR network of the Delhi Metro for wider public awareness on cleanliness.


During this period, DMRC also ran a cleanliness drive with the Ministry of Tourism at New Delhi Metro Station and with school children in association with Shri Ram School-Moulsari (Gurgaon) at IFFCO chowk Metro station. The school children displayed posters and performed street plays to spread awareness about cleanliness and hygiene as part of the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. This cleanliness drive with school children will also be conducted on October 22 and November 26, 2016.
