More than 50% audience ready for outside entertainment post-Covid19, says BookMyShow report

The survey report says that consumer prefers contactless experience while watching movie out of home post lockdown

BookMyShow, an entertainment ticketing platform, releases a Covid19 survey report titled Back To Out-of-Home Entertainment’ to know consumer’s viewpoint on outside entertainment post-Covid19.

The report states that more than 54% of Indian entertainment lovers are gearing up to step out of their homes and get back to their favourite entertainment experience. They are eager to go to theatres within 15 to 90 days of lockdown lifting while the rest would prefer to step out after 90 days. There are 98% of Indians, who expects that strict safety and hygiene measures are to be taken care of by cinema authority to ensure a safe movie-watching experience. 

A contactless entertainment experience is what Indians want in this situation. There are 85% of surveyed consumers, who wish purchasing their tickets online with m-ticket (Mobile Ticket) and E-ticket (Electronic Ticket) options, the report said.

The report clears that South India misses its entertainment the most, with 56% of respondents from the region are eager to catch their desired movie and/or concert post lockdown. For live entertainment experience, 40% of Indians would prefer attending a music concert in small group of people between 50 and 100.  Attending events, drive-in concerts and tables for two persons are some of the factors that consumers would prefer the most.

The report is the outcome of a survey of 4,000 respondents, who are active BookMyShow transactors. It was conducted in May this year across 235 cities and towns in India. Out of total, 70% of the responses came from consumers living in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, NCR, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Vijayawada and Kochi,  belonging to the group between 18 and 65 age while 49% of consumers  responded were aged between 25 and 34 years.
