North Delhi MC swooping down on unauthorised outdoor media & displays

By VJ Media Bureau - May 21, 2015

The move follows the Delhi High Court order mandating the Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs) to root out unauthorised hoardings in the city within two months

Close on the heels of the Delhi High Court mandating the Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs) to root out unauthorised hoardings in the city within two months, North Delhi Municipal Corporation has issued a public notice this week, setting a deadline of three days to dismantle and remove any form of illegal and unauthorised advertisements, such as, signages, rooftop hoardings, unipoles, display boards and posters as part of a planned zero-tolerance policy against such displays.

The notice reportedly addresses general public, advertisers and permission holders, occupants of buildings, government departments, residents' associations and market associations.

Any contravention of the public notice will invite an FIR under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007 that forbids advertisement without requisite permissions from corporation officials.
