Ludhiana MC takes social media route to root out illegal media

A WhatsApp group has been creating for pooling of information basis which special teams will set out to remove unauthorised outdoor media in the city

 LudhianaMunicipal Corporation of Ludhiana, having allotted its biggest outdoor media contract in the city to Leafberry Ads, is taking the social media route to strike at unauthorised outdoor media. The urban local body has created a WhatsApp group where information is pooled in on unauthorised media erected in the city. This initiative has been taken by Sayyam Aggarwal, Nodal Officer for Advertisements appointed by the Directorate LG. He told Media4Growth: “We have successfully awarded an outdoor media tender at a very good price and to make this a viable deal, there is now a dedicated team of police personnel and MC personnel who will keep a check on illegal media coming up in different parts of the city. The existence of the media and action taken will all be documented with photographs. This group will help in expediting the whole process and remove reported media within 3-4 hours.”

Leafberry Ads is a part of this group and will proactively report on unauthorised media. “In the coming times we will also include NGOs and social activists in this group who work aggressively for the betterment of the city,” added Aggarwal.

Talking about the recent tender acquisition done by Leafberry Ads, Aggarwal expressed, “We are quite happy as municipal corporations are always short of funds and getting such a handsome deal will add up to our revenues.”
