JCDecaux on an Outdoor cleaning drive in Delhi

The activity was in support of the NDMC centenary celebrations and the re-launch of Connaught Place in New Delhi .

To support NDMC & NDTA in their centenary celebrations and re-launch Connaught Place, JCDecaux volunteered to undertake a cleaning drive in the Connaught Place area of New Delhi to remove the high amount of litter generated due to Christmas festivities. Overall a fleet of 15 maintenance vehicles along with a team of 55 personnel were involved in this activity. The NDMC cleaning teams also participated in the activity.

The drive started in the early hours to ensure minimal disruption to the public. Dedicated teams were deployed in respective blocks to undertake cleaning. The teams were equipped with a cleaning vans and equipment's. They started off by sweeping common areas such as the Colonnade area and public plazas. The litter from the planters, ground and the litter bins were collected in a garbage bag for disposal to the nearest municipal dumps.

This was followed by wet cleaning of these areas wherein water stored in the cleaning vans was sprayed through the water hoses. These areas were thoroughly cleaned and cleaning liquids and scrubbing tools were used for tough stains on the floor and benches. The spit stains on the pillars were also cleaned thoroughly.

Commenting on this cleaning drive organized by JCDecaux , Atul Bhargava, President - NDTA said, "Connaught Place being the premium shopping and commercial area of New Delhi attracts a huge footfall especially during such festivals. I would like to thank JCDecaux for this initiative and would like to appreciate their cleaning & maintenance team for sprucing up the common areas with great efficiency. The impact of their cleaning drive was quite visible as the whole area had a neat look. These activities send out a positive signal to the public and helps in creating awareness towards keeping this heritage structure clean.
