BBMP swooping down on unauthorised outdoor media

By M4G Bureau - November 01, 2017

BBMP has called for an amendment to Section 443 (10) of the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act for a permanent solution as the civic body is losing out huge revenue due to the illegal hoarding menace.

Despite imposing various stringent regulations by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authority, the illegal banners and hoardings continue to mushroom in the Bengaluru city. As per the figures shared by the Pallike, some 841 of the 2,439 illegal and unauthorised hoardings, flex banners and advertisements have been removed since April which tend to reappear overnight.

While citing a reason behind this, the BBMP Standing Official Committee shared that various advertising agencies misuse the permission allotted to them. However, they have stopped granting permissions for new hoardings and have requested for an amendment to Section 443 (10) of the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act for a permanent solution as the BBMP is losing out huge revenue due to the illegal hoarding menace.
