Bangalore Metro enters fast lane, leg up for OOH

By M4G Bureau - January 12, 2018

The passenger traffic increase and addition of train trips augurs well for the OOH media firms that have taken up media rights on this network, as also the host of media solutions firms that are tapping into this space

Up until a year ago the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited’s (BMRCL) ‘Namma Metro’ network expansion was seen to be progressing at a rather slow pace. But the situation has changed quite dramatically, with the opening up of a new line and extension of the existing one. So much so, BMRCL has increased the number of trips on both the Green and Purple lines to keep up with demand -- additional 10 trips on the Purple Line between Mysuru Road and Baiyappanahalli and 3 more trips on the Green Line from Yelachenahalli to Nagasandra. The passenger traffic increase and addition of train trips augurs well for the OOH media firms that have taken up media rights on this network, as also the host of media solutions firms that are tapping into this space.

Every day, the Purple Line had been operating 161 round trips and the Green Line 120 round trips. Office goers with easy access to the Metro network are increasingly opting for the service, and that is seemingly pushing up the peak hour demand.

Commuters are reportedly have been asking BMRCL to increase the frequency and number of coaches. The Purple Line (East-West corridor) is expected to get the first train with six coaches — one will be reserved for women — by the month-end.

Further, to address the last-mile connectivity for users of Namma Metro, a bike sharing system is also being introduced at 33 stations.
