Vodafone amplifies road safety concerns

By M4G Bureau - January 31, 2018

Over 60 Vodafone volunteers participated in the ‘Vodafone Safety Bike Rally” in association with Meerut Traffic Police, and conducted ‘Nukkad Natak’ for public awareness of road safety

Vodafone India initiated a campaign under its holistic Health, Safety and Well-Being (HSW) policy aimed at ensuring the well-being of its employees, customers and society at large  by organizing a Road Safety Drive in association with Traffic Police in Meerut. It is estimated that in India one road accident fatality happens every four minutes. To address the situation, the objective of the campaign was to sensitise the masses on prevention of road traffic injuries.

A ‘Nukkad Natak’ was organized by Vodafone in association with Asmitha Theater Group as part of the campaign to spread the message of safety on the roads of Meerut.  The activity helped in spreading awareness about various safety and emergency measures that can be used in case of distress on the roads.
A bike rally was also conducted by Vodafone volunteers which was flagged off from the University Road and covered key locations of the city. The volunteers carried placards bearing health and safety slogans.

As part of the rally, all the riders wore helmets, luminous jackets and safety gear which are mandatory under the 9 Absolute Safety Rules (ASRs), a key component of the HSW policy of Vodafone India. Ensuring adherence to these ASRs, Vodafone has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards traffic rule violations.

Speaking on this unique initiative, Dilip Kumar Ganta, Business Head – UP West & Uttarakhand , Vodafone India,  said,  “At Vodafone achieving the highest standards of Health, Safety and Wellbeing for employees, associates, customers, community and  public at large has always been and continues to be an absolute priority. With this campaign, we hope to awaken among the masses and save many lives through generating awareness about road safety and alert citizens on hazards of distracted driving”
